E-waste Recycling

What Is E-Waste

Every electronic and electrical device that has gone obsolete or has reached its end of life is an E-Waste. It encompasses assets like Laptops, CPU, Monitors or general appliances like Television, Refrigerator, Air conditioners and other household gadgets. It also consists of petty items like remote, computer accessories, mobile phones, etc. These devices are mainly made up of Plastic, Metals and Glass. Whilst recycling, we recover valued metals like Copper, Aluminium, Iron, Silver and sometimes Gold. Sparse metals like rhodium, palladium, platinum, etc. can also be retained.

How is E-waste Recycled

There are three principal stages in the recycling of e-waste: Sorting, Dismantling and Shredding. Once the assets are manually sorted it is entered into a machine for dismantling. Post dismantling, precious and rare metals are extracted and other components like glass, fiber, plastic, etc. are segregated. These components are further shredded and treated scientifically.

What constitutes in Battery

Aluminium Ion battery, Lead-Acid battery, Lithium Ion Battery, Rechargeable Lithium Battery, etc. are few examples of batteries that are recycled.

How is a battery recycled

A battery is recycled using various methods. To name a couple of them we have, Pyrometallurgy (Heat Based) and Hydrometallurgy (Liquid Based). Once the ferrous and non-ferrous metals are extracted the lead is sent to other manufacturing industries as a raw material.
